Overview

Lubrication that manages friction during forming

Drawing soaps adhere to the phosphated surface and reduce metal-to-die contact during wire and profile drawing. Reactive soaps react with the phosphate layer to form a durable lubricant film, while neutral soaps provide a physical film.

Long die life

Low friction; reduced wear on dies and drawing dies.

High surface quality

A uniform, smooth and bright drawn surface.

Turkey's leader

The country's leading brand in drawing soap production.

Applications

Where is it used?

Steel Wire Drawing

A stable soap film in the dry drawing box; low friction and surface quality at high speed.

Profile Drawing

Uniform lubrication and die protection when drawing special profiles and shaped sections.

Cold Forming

Lubrication in the production of bolts, nuts and fasteners with the phosphate + soap system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions

What does drawing soap do?

Drawing soap forms a lubricant film between the die and the metal in wire and profile drawing. By cutting metal-to-die contact this film extends die life, protects the wire surface from scoring and scratches, and keeps friction heat under control to reduce breakage.

Should I choose reactive or neutral soap?

On high drawing speeds, high per-die reduction and heavy multi-die lines, the film strength of reactive soap is an advantage. Where the wire will be welded, heat-treated or coated afterwards and surface cleanliness matters, neutral soap — whose residue is easier to remove — is preferable. Our technical team recommends the right type for your line.

Why is soap applied over the phosphate layer rather than directly on the steel?

Zinc phosphate coating acts as a porous, crystalline carrier layer that holds the soap. Without it, soap cannot be carried to the die or stay in place under pressure; the film thins at the first die and metal-to-metal contact begins. That is why soap works over a phosphated surface prepared with KİMSOL.

Should I use powder or granule?

Both are used; the choice depends on wire diameter and line conditions. Fine-grained formulations run more smoothly and cleanly on thin wire, while high film-carrying formulations are preferred on thick-diameter, multi-die heavy drawing lines. Both forms absorb moisture, so they must be stored dry and closed.
